Women in the Babylonian empire

Women in Babylonia like most ancient societies had few rights. A women role was in home and failure to fulfill her duties, as a wife was grounds for divorce. A woman who neglected her husband and the house could be drowned. If a woman was found to have committed adultery they could be drowned.

A woman did however; control the husband’s property on his death. She also determined which children would inherit.
