Europe and the world were transformed between 1550 and 1750. Two hundred years began with a series of religious wars that resulted in tens of thousands of deaths. The conflicts led to the creation of strong central governments led by absolute monarchs in France, Prussia, Austria-Hungary, and Russia. Great Britain, meanwhile became a limited monarchy with a strong parliament.
