Left deaf and blind following an illness at the age of 19 months, Helen Keller triumphed over her personal tragedy to become an insipration to both the handicapped and the able-bodied around the world.
Under the care of teacher Anne Sullivan, Helen Keller learned to speak, read and write Braille, and use sign language, eventually becoming an author and lecturer. She was a graduate of Radcliffe College and published many works including The Story of My Life (1903).
