Yank (SP-908)—a motorboat built in 1917 by Julius Peterson at Nyack, N.Y.—was acquired by the. Navy on ~ October 1917 from Mr. N. Ackerman of New York City and commissioned on 10 October 1917. Assigned to the 3d Naval District, Yank patrolled the coast of Rhode Island and Connecticut throughout America's participation in World War I. She briefly remained on the Navy list after the armistice but was finally returned to her former owner on St. Valentine's Day 1919. Her name was simultaneously struck from the Navy list.
