Marcia, a passenger liner built in 1919 by Sun Shipbuilding Co., Chester, Pa., was purchased at Philadelphia by the Navy from Luckenback SS Co., 9 June 1919 and commissioned the same day. After service through the summer returning men and equipment from Europe, Marcia was transferred to the War Department 12 September 1919.
