NEW YORK CENTRAL and Hudson Railroad

The above is a new locomotive built by Schenectady Locomotive Works in 1897 for the New York Central and Hudson Railroads. They were built to the specifications of Mr William Buchanan the superintendant of motive power of the railroad, The locomotive on of six built have large heating a grate surfaces. The engine was designed for the fast service of the railroad such as the "Empire State Express. The working weight of the engine is 136,000 pounds and the diameter of the pistons was 19 inches with the stroke of the pistons 24 inches
